The State of Alaska Office of Public Advocacy (OPA)
administers
Alaska CASA, the state CASA organization, and six local CASA programs. These
programs recruit and train volunteers to advocate for children and youth involved in child in need of aid proceedings in state court. The CASA volunteers are supervised on their cases by
OPA’s staff guardians ad litem.
In 2010 there were 172 CASA volunteers in
OPA’s CASA programs, representing the best interests of 464 children in
Anchorage, Bethel, Mat-Su Valley, Juneau, and Fairbanks.
